Sue has worked in the pre-k and k-12 public school education sector for the past 30 years as a teacher, preschool director, PTA member, school board trustee, and parent.
She attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly-SLO) where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1978.
After graduation from college, Sue moved to Woodland Hills, California and purchased a private preschool which she owned and operated for 10 years. While raising her two boys in Valencia, California she became highly involved with PTA at local, regional and national levels. She held the publicly elected office for the Governing Board of Newhall Elementary School District from 1997-2005. Her love for arts in education translated to her researching and introducing several music, visual and dramatic arts school programs for the children and families she served. She is a founder of Theatre Arts for Children Foundation, which brings dramatic arts instruction to the children and youth of the Santa Clarita Valley and served as its president for the past 4 years.
Sue has served on numerous committees for both educational and artistic endeavors and has developed strong relationships with elected public education professionals throughout the state and nation.
She has spent most of her adult life dedicated to children and public education. She believes that we have the right to demand what’s best for all kids and fulfill that promise. Her hope is to make the world better for her own two boys, however, it can’t be done without making it better for all the world’s children.
